The Center for Artificial Intelligence (CAI) is a leading research center in artificial intelligence with three primary goals. The first goal is to advance theoretical foundations of artificial intelligence (AI) and to drive progress in AI areas like machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, financial analytics, robotics, internet of things, bioinformatics, cybersecurity, and recommender systems. The second goal is to collaborate with industry through the transfer of AI technology with the purpose of developing new knowledge-based innovative products and services. The third goal is to provide top-class AI education at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, as well as continuing education for the industry.
The Centre was established in October 2019 and is the largest research center in the area of artificial intelligence in Croatia bringing together about 200 researchers (50 faculty members and 150 doctoral students and postdocs) from 19 research laboratories at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Croatia. Researchers of the Centre are principal investigators, co-investigators, or partners on numerous national and international R&D projects.
